Hillside
Positioned in St Lucia overlooking the fairways of the St Lucia Golf Links, this new residence is shaped by its steep terrain and expansive outlook. The design embraces the site’s topography, stepping with the land to create a series of connected yet distinct living zones.
Framing views was central to the architectural approach. Carefully proportioned openings capture long vistas across to the golf course while borrowing surrounding vegetation to draw landscape deep into the interior. Glazing, terraces and layered thresholds dissolve boundaries, allowing the greenery to become part of everyday life.
The sloping site generates moments of pause — landings, window seats and intermediate spaces that offer outlook and reflection as one moves through the home. At the same time, a considered spatial flow links kitchen, living and outdoor areas in a continuous sequence suited to Brisbane’s climate.
Materially restrained and contemporary in expression, the house presents a confident interpretation of modern subtropical living — connected to landscape, responsive to site, and designed around lifestyle and view.
